Sorority Rush FAQ

From an expert rush coach & our most frequently asked questions.

A rush coach is like having a personal guide for sorority recruitment. Just like students hire tutors for the SAT or private coaches for sports, families are now investing in expert support for rush. Coaches provide so many benefits to clients: recruitment prep, step-by-step guidance, confidence building, wardrobe styling for each round, ongoing support, providing feedback, and giving lots of encouragement along the way! At Sorority Prep we want our clients to feel prepared and confident, as rush can be competitive and stressful, especially at large universities. Sorority Prep gives PNMs an edge by making sure they know what to expect, how to stand out, and how to present themselves authentically.

  1. What does a sorority rush coach do?

A sorority rush coach provides professional guidance to help PNMs prepare for every stage of sorority recruitment. Coaching typically includes confidence training, conversation practice, PNM application guidance, social media review, wardrobe planning, emotional and mental support leading up to and during recruitment week, as well as cheering you on and lifting you up whenever you most need it.

  2. How early should I start preparing for sorority rush?

Most students commence their preparations 3–6 months prior to rush, with some even beginning at the start of their senior year in high school. The sooner you embark on this journey, the more opportunity you’ll have to improve your communication skills, refine your social media presence, select your outfits, and boost your confidence for each recruitment round. Ensure you allocate sufficient time to meet deadlines and prepare—don’t leave your success to chance.

  3. Do I really need a sorority coach?

Rush coaching isn’t required—but it gives PNMs a major advantage. Recruitment can be competitive, especially at large SEC and Big Ten universities, and a coach provides insider strategy, one-on-one practice, and personalized support to help PNMs stand out and feel confident in every round. At Sorority Prep our goal is to help each PNM find a sorority where they truly feel at home, and Sorority Prep can be a part of that journey. 4. Is sorority rush coaching worth the investment?

Families nationwide choose rush coaching because it reduces stress, builds confidence, and increases preparedness. As featured on Good Morning America, parents now invest in expert support for rush just like they do for athletics, academics, and college admissions coaching.

  5. What should I wear for sorority rush?

Every round has a different dress code, and wardrobe plays an important role in first impressions. Sorority Prep helps PNMs choose outfits that align with university expectations, sorority culture, and personal style—ensuring you look polished, confident, and authentically yourself.

  6. What happens during recruitment week?

During recruitment week, PNMs attend rounds where they meet sorority members, have conversations, and get invited back based on mutual fit. At Sorority Prep we help you navigate conversations, etiquette, schedules, emotions, and follow-up strategy throughout the week, while also cheering you on!

  7. Does a rush coach or consultant guarantee a bid?

No we can’t guarantee a bid. Rush results depend on many factors including campus culture, personality fit, values alignment, plus many factors outside your control. However, preparation dramatically increases confidence and the likelihood of a successful and meaningful recruitment experience. Plus if anything changes in your journey Sorority Prep is there to provide you guidance along the way!
