5 Things Every PNM Needs Before Submitting Sorority Recruitment Registration

Sorority recruitment preparation starts long before you walk through the doors on the first day of recruitment. One of the biggest mistakes I see Potential New Members (PNMs) make is treating registration like it is just a quick online form to complete.
The truth?
Your recruitment registration is often your first introduction to chapters. Before a conversation ever happens, chapters may have the opportunity to learn about your activities, involvement, interests, and the story you are sharing about yourself.
Before you click submit, make sure you have these five things ready:
1. A Polished Sorority Recruitment Resume
Your resume is more than a list of accomplishments — it helps tell your story.
Sorority chapters are looking for future members who will contribute to their sisterhood, leadership, campus involvement, philanthropy efforts, and chapter community.
Your recruitment resume should include:
✔ Academic information
✔ Leadership experience
✔ Clubs + organizations
✔ Volunteer involvement
✔ Work experience
✔ Honors + achievements
✔ Hobbies, interests, and unique facts about you
Don’t forget: the little details can make you memorable.
Did you start a small business? Train for a marathon? Work every summer as a camp counselor? Love baking, photography, or sports?
Those are often the conversation starters that help recruiters connect with you!
2. Photos That Represent the Real You
Your recruitment photos are not about looking perfect — they are about helping chapters recognize and remember you.
Most campuses request one or more photos during registration.
Before submitting, have:
✔ A clear headshot (size it correctly for upload less than 1MB)
✔ Updated pictures that look like YOU
Choose photos where you look confident, approachable, and authentic.
Avoid:
✖ Heavy filters
✖ Group photos where it is hard to identify you
✖ Photos that do not represent your everyday style
Your goal is simple: when you walk into the room, they should immediately recognize the amazing girl they learned about before recruitment.
3. Strong Short Answer Responses
Those little boxes on the application? They matter!
Many PNMs rush through these questions, but your answers can help chapters understand who you are beyond your GPA and activities.
When writing your responses, think about:
✨ What experiences shaped me?
✨ What am I passionate about?
✨ How do I spend my time?
✨ What kind of friend and member do I hope to be?
✨ What stories would I want someone to remember about me?
The strongest answers are not the most impressive — they are the most personal.
Instead of saying:
“I love volunteering and helping others.”
Tell the story.
What organization? Why did it matter? What did you learn? How did it impact you?
Specific stories create memorable conversations.
4. A Social Media Refresh
Yes — your social media matters.
Your Instagram is another way chapters may get a glimpse into your personality, interests, friendships, and life.
Before recruitment registration:
✔ Update your profile photo
✔ Review your bio
✔ Check tagged photos
✔ Remove anything that doesn’t represent you well
✔ Add photos that show your personality and interests
Think of your profile as a highlight reel of who you are.
Does it show:
💕 Your friendships?
💕 Your involvement?
💕 Your hobbies?
💕 Your personality?
💕 The things you care about?
You don’t need a perfect feed — you need an authentic one.
5. Your Campus-Specific Requirements
Every university does recruitment differently.
Do not assume your roommate, best friend, or older sibling’s experience will be exactly like yours.
Before submitting registration, check:
✔ Registration deadline
✔ Fees
✔ Required photos
✔ Video introductions (if required)
✔ GPA information
✔ Recommendation letter policies (supplemental academic information can be helpful)
✔ Resume upload options (if no upload be complete in your responses…do not put SEE RESUME ever!)
✔ Important recruitment dates (do you need to complete online modules or watch videos by certain date, complete move in forms, have parents sign forms, or send your transcript to your university).
Missing small details can create unnecessary stress later.
The PNMs who feel the most confident during recruitment are usually the ones who prepared early.F
