Olivia’s Story

I was so excited to be heading off to Ole Miss in the fall…but most excited to go through rush and join a sorority! Because I was the first in my family to rush, I was very unfamiliar with the entire process. I had no idea where to start, what to do, who to speak to, and what was required, so my mom found Sorority Prep through my National Charity League.

To prepare for recruitment, Sorority Prep was there to help me every step of the way. I was given both guidance and help making connections from Sorority Prep. This helped me hear about sorority member’s experiences with the rush process and kind of gave me an idea of what to expect. I also attended a workshop that gave the entire rundown on appropriate attire for rush, necessities, and accurate simulations on how the interviews would go during rush.

I was very nervous at first to go into recruitment week because I am very shy and tend to have bad social anxiety. However, because of the help and coaching I got through Sorority Prep, I went into the process confident and I was able to ask great and meaningful questions, all while being myself, which was so encouraging for me.

I went into recruitment a little nervous because it is very competitive at Ole Miss. I was afraid I wouldn’t fit into anywhere, or that none of the houses would like me for me. Despite this fear, however, I was encouraged to still be myself and not try to conform to fit a certain personality. I ended up getting asked back to almost all of my houses because I had such genuine and humorous conversations with the girls, and they respected that I was unapologetically myself. I ended up having the best conversations with these two girls from my now sorority who I spoke to each time I returned to the house. I felt like I could be myself the most at this house and I loved that there were many girls from many different backgrounds. If I could give any advice to girls wanting to go through this process, it would be to always be yourself and never put on a mask. You will end up wherever you belong, and whoever likes you for you is the place you are meant to be. Also be sure to be as attentive and kind as possible to whoever you are speaking to, regardless if you are interested in their house or not.

If you are going into this blindly like I was, Sorority Prep will give you the full guidance and help to make the process as smooth and stress free as possible. Also, Leslie is super sweet, helpful, and wants the best for you. I couldn’t have done this without her.

Best of luck to you!!! I hope you find your forever home like me!
